Note: The Seychelles is a fantastic sailing destination, though the wind is often light. As a result, we frequently navigate under motor. This gives us the flexibility to travel faster, leaving you with more time for snorkeling, swimming, and exploring the archipelago's most beautiful spots.

How challenging is the tour?

• We will cover about 150 nautical miles during our week.
• During the day, we are usually on the move for 2 to 5 hours (including swimming breaks).
• No sailing experience is required for the tour.
• Being able to swim freely for 20 minutes is a must.

This tour is suitable for you if you meet the following criteria:

• You should be motivated to contribute to the daily sailing routine within the crew.
• This includes activities such as sailing itself, meal preparation, and cleaning up and washing dishes after meals.
• For our bike tour on La Digue, you should be able to ride a bicycle.

Awesome Crew:

• On board: Local English-speaking skipper(s)
• Also on board: JTC skippers as your local contact person.
• Immediately after booking, you will receive access to the chat for all participants.
• We sail in a flotilla of up to 3 yachts, each with 8 - 10 participants.
• Sailors from all over the world (on-board language is English).
• Approximately 80% of participants are young professionals aged between 27 - 33.

Harmonious Distribution:

• 50/50 gender mix (with full occupancy up to 2 weeks before the start of the trip).
• The ratio of singles, couples, and small groups is balanced.
• For a group of more than 4 people, you should book your own yacht & skipper.
• We'll match you with the crew that best suits you with lots of love.
• If you have any preferences, please let us know in the booking form.

• Right after booking, you'll receive access to our crew chat.
• Say "Hey Crew 😍🤙" and exchange information about the journey!

Tour operation:

• All dates will be confirmed starting from the second booking.

• All yachts are booked exclusively for our crews in advance.
• If multiple options are available on a given date, you choose the yacht standard that suits you best.
• Detailed information about the yacht standard can be found in the respective description.
• You will receive your information about exact yacht model approximately two weeks before the tour starts, after the crew assignments have been finalized.

Easy payment:

• Deposit: 30% of the tour price upon booking.
• Final payment: 6 weeks before the start of the tour.
• Payment methods: Bank transfer, Credit card, ApplePay, AndroidPay, Klarna.

Reserve 5 days at no cost:

• Simply choose 'reservation' in the booking form.
• Reservations are possible until 6 weeks before the start of the tour.
• If you don't book, the reservation will automatically expire after 5 days.

Cooking or Dining Out:

• We usually prepare our meals on board ourselves.
• On some days, we have the opportunity to eat out ashore in the evenings.
• When cooking, we can form teams of two, so that each person takes turns cooking/washing up. However, everyone usually helps out anyway.

Preparation in advance:

• In the crew chat, we can discuss meal and beverage planning before the tour begins.
• If you have any intolerances or allergies, please inform us in advance in the crew chat so that they can be taken into account during shopping.

Shopping:

• On the first day of the tour, we plan our shopping together using the JTC shopping list. You can find this in your crew area under "my tours".
• As a crew, we all buy groceries together for our week.
• Each person should bring two large cloth bags so that we don't have to use plastic bags on site.
• If the supermarket is not within walking distance, we can have the groceries delivered to the harbor by taxi.
• During the tour, we have the opportunity to buy small items on land.

Arrival:

• Airport: Seychelles International.
• Our Marina: Eden Island Marina.
• Your route in Google Maps from the airport to the marina.

Check-In:

• Your crew meets at 11:00 M in the café announced in the crew chat.
• Inform your skipper if you are arriving late.
• We leave the starting port on Sunday morning.

Check-Out:

• At the end of the trip, we will reach our destination port as planned on the penultimate day of the trip around 5:00 PM.
• We will spend the last night in the harbor and disembark the boat at 9:00 AM on the day of departure.

How do I book my flight?

• Ideally, book it so that you are on time for the first meeting at the café (or the day before, so you are more rested and can certainly get to know some of your fellow sailors the evening before).
• Your flight should ideally depart no earlier than 12:00 PM on the day of departure, so that you can have a leisurely breakfast with your crew after the week. If this isn't possible, you can book your return flight from 7:00 AM onwards on the last day of the trip.

What to pack?

• Most crew members travel with carry-on luggage.
• A suitcase takes up too much space in the cabin, so a bag is recommended instead.
• For sustainability, it's important to bring biodegradable hygiene products (shampoo, sunscreen, etc.).
• For nights under the starry sky, bring a sleeping bag.
• Towel, pillow, pillowcase, wool blanket, and a bed sheet for the mattress are provided on most trips.
• The crew fund does not need to be brought in cash. Most expenses can be paid on site by card or withdrawn in cash.

Mobile phone reception & power supply

Mobile phone reception:

• Most days along our route have network coverage.
• Depending on the bay, weather, and daily route, there may be areas without reception.
• Check with your provider for roaming charges.
• You can purchase a local SIM card at the airport.

Power supply:

• Smartphones and other small devices can be charged on board via the 12V socket.
• In the starting port, other devices such as cameras, laptops, etc. can be charged using shore power (220V).
• However, there are only a few marinas on our route; we spend 1-2 nights in the harbor in Praslin.
• A power bank is recommended.

Currency, prices & tips

Currency

• The currency is the Seychelles Rupee (SCR).
• Cashless payments by credit card are accepted in larger towns and resorts.

Prices

• Dining out: Approximately US$20 to US$40 per person.
• Examples: Inexpensive meal: US$10, Local beer: US$5, Coffee: US$3.
• Food prices may vary depending on the island and availability.

Tips

• Average tip: about 10%.

Culture

• The Seychelles are a melting pot of diverse cultures, including African, European, and Asian influences, which are reflected in their music, dance, and cuisine.
• A well-known cultural event is the "Festival Kreol," which celebrates Creole culture through music, dance, art, and food.
• Traditional Seychellois music, such as "Séga" and "Moutia," is deeply rooted in African rhythms and is often accompanied by dance performances.

Safety in the country

• The Seychelles are considered a safe region for solo travelers.
• Keep important documents and cash secure.
• A printed or digital copy of your documents is recommended.
• Beware of pickpocketing.

Entry requirements & vaccinations

For German citizens:

• A passport valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay.

Visa:

• German citizens do not require a visa to enter the Seychelles.
• Travelers must apply for a digital travel authorization before departure via the official Seychellois government website or mobile app.
• For other nationalities:
• Please check the current entry requirements on the website of the Federal Foreign Office before booking.

Vaccinations

• No vaccinations are required for entry.
• Yellow fever vaccination is required for arrivals from countries with an infectious disease outbreak.
• Recommendations: Hepatitis A and B. For longer stays, vaccinations against typhoid, dengue fever, rabies, and meningococcal disease (ACWY) are recommended.
• We generally advise you to consult your doctor about current vaccination recommendations for the Seychelles before traveling.
• Your standard vaccinations, according to the Robert Koch Institute's vaccination schedule, should be up to date.
