Live the sailor's life on a boat and become part of an active crew that hoists the sails and takes on all tasks on board. Learn the basics of sailing and enjoy nights in pristine coves and picturesque harbors. Depending on the area, there may also be joint land excursions, but the focus is clearly on unforgettable moments at sea.

How difficult is the tour?

• During our week, we will cover approximately 210 nautical miles.
• During the day, we are usually active for about 3 - 6 hours (including swimming stops).
• No sailing experience is required for this tour.
• Being able to swim freely for at least 20 minutes is a must.

This tour is suitable for you if you meet the following criteria:

• You should be motivated to contribute to the daily sailing activities with the crew. This includes sailing itself, meal preparation, as well as cleaning up and washing dishes after meals.
• For the optional scooter tour on Koh Lanta, you’ll need a motorcycle license. Alternatively, we can share a scooter in pairs so that not everyone has to drive.

Awesome Crew:

• We sail with 3 - 6 yachts, each with 8 - 10 participants, as a flotilla.
• Sailors from all over the world (on-board language is English).
• Approximately 80% of participants are young professionals aged between 27 - 33.
• Specially trained JTC skippers from our Skipper Academy.

Harmonious Distribution:

• 50/50 gender mix (with full occupancy up to 2 weeks before the start of the trip).
• The ratio of singles, couples, and small groups is balanced.
• For a group of more than 4 people, you book your own yacht including skipper.
• We'll match you with the crew that best suits you with lots of love. If you have any preferences, please let us know in the booking form.

• Right after booking, you'll receive access to our crew chat.

Depending on the date, you can book one of the yacht standards listed below. All standards have everything you need to sail safely with your crew and experience the vacation of a lifetime. The standard equipment of all boats includes a fully equipped kitchen, bathing platform, audio system, and a dinghy with an outboard motor. Yachts and catamarans in the Classic Plus class are generally newer, offer more space per person, and may have additional extras for more comfort on board.

Easy payment:

• Deposit: 30% of the tour price upon booking.
• Final payment: 6 weeks before the start of the tour.
• Payment methods: Bank transfer, Credit card, ApplePay, AndroidPay, Klarna.

Reservation for 5 days:

• Possible until 6 weeks before the start of the tour.
• Reserve for 5 days in the booking form.
• If you don't book, the reservation will expire automatically.

Cooking or Dining Out:

• We usually prepare our meals on board ourselves.
• On some days, we have the opportunity to eat out ashore in the evenings.
• When cooking, we can form teams of two, so that each person takes turns cooking / washing up. However, everyone usually helps out anyway.

Preparation in advance:

• In the crew chat, we can discuss meal and beverage planning before the tour begins.
• If you have any intolerances or allergies, please inform us in advance in the crew chat so that they can be taken into account during shopping.

Shopping:

• On the first day of the tour, we plan our shopping together using the JTC shopping list. You can find this in your crew area under "my tours".
• As a crew, we all buy groceries together for our week.
• Each person should bring two large cloth bags so that we don't have to use plastic bags on site.
• If the supermarket is not within walking distance, we can have the groceries delivered to the harbor by taxi.
• During the tour, we have the opportunity to buy small items on land.

Arrival:

• Airport: Phuket.
• Our Marina: Yacht Haven Marina.
• Your route in Google Maps from the airport to the marina.

Check-In:

• Your crew will meet at 11:00 AM at the café announced in the crew chat.
• If you are going to arrive late, inform your skipper.
• We depart from the starting port the next morning.

Check-Out:

• On the last day our check-out will be at 12:00 noon. Accordingly, return flights should not be booked before 4:00 PM.

How do I book my Flight?

• Ideally, you should aim to arrive at the café for the first meeting on time (or the day before, so you can be more rested and possibly meet some of your fellow sailors).
• Your departure flight should ideally be no earlier than 4:00 PM on the departure day.

What to pack?

• Most crew members travel with carry-on luggage.
• A suitcase takes up too much space in the cabin, so a bag is recommended.
• For sustainability, it's important to bring biodegradable hygiene products (shampoo, sunscreen, etc.).
• For nights under the starry sky, bring a sleeping bag.
• Towel, pillow, pillowcase, wool blanket, and a bed sheet for the mattress are provided on almost all trips.
• If you have a motorcycle license, make sure to bring it with you, as you'll need it for the optional scooter tour.
• The crew fund does not need to be brought in cash. Most expenses can be paid on site by card or withdrawn in cash.

Mobile phone reception & power supply

Mobile phone reception:

• Network coverage on most days of our route.
• Depending on the bay, weather, and daily route, there may be no reception at times.
• Roaming charges may apply (depending on your provider).
• You can purchase a local SIM card at the airport.

Power supply:

• Smartphones and other small devices can be charged on board via the 12V socket.
• In the starting port, other devices such as cameras, laptops, etc. can be charged using shore power (220V).
• However, during the rest of the tour, we will be anchored, with no marinas.
• Therefore, a power bank should not be forgotten.

Currency, prices & tips
Currency:

• Payments are made in Thai Baht (THB).
• Cashless payments with credit cards are possible in larger cities and tourist areas.

Prices:

• Restaurant visit: Approximately 150 to 300 Baht per person.
• Examples: Cheap meal: 50 Baht, Local beer: 70 Baht, Coffee: 35 Baht.
• Food prices may vary depending on the location and offerings.

Tips:

• Average tip: about 10%.

Culture

• Thailand, often referred to as the "Land of Smiles," has a rich Buddhist culture reflected in its temples, celebrations, and daily life.
• Thai New Year, Songkran, is celebrated in April and is known for its nationwide water fights.
• Thai cuisine, known for its diverse flavors and spiciness, is popular worldwide, with each dish striving for a balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy.
• Thailand has very strict laws in many aspects of daily life - It is best to stay updated on this by checking the website of the Foreign Office.

Safety in the Country

• Thailand is considered a relatively safe country for solo travelers.
• Keep important documents and cash securely.
• Having a printed or digital copy of your documents is recommended.
• Beware of pickpocketing.

Entry Requirements & Vaccination Protection

For German citizens:

• A passport valid for at least 6 months.

Visa:

• German citizens do not need a visa for stays up to 30 days.
• Air travelers must have a return or onward ticket, otherwise, they become subject to visa requirements.
• Within 72 hours before arrival all non-Thai nationals have to fill in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). You can fill it in here.

For other nationalities:

Please check the current entry requirements on the website of your Federal Foreign Office before booking.

Vaccination protection:

• For entry, no mandatory vaccinations are required.
• Yellow fever vaccination is required for entry from an infected country.
• Recommendations: Hepatitis A + B. For longer stays, vaccinations against typhoid fever, dengue fever, rabies, and meningococcal disease (ACWY) are advisable.
