Colours of Amalfi

Live the sailor's life on a boat and become part of an active crew that hoists the sails and takes on all onboard tasks. Learn the basics of sailing and enjoy nights in pristine bays and picturesque harbors. Depending on the area, there are also land excursions, but the focus is clearly on unforgettable moments at sea.

How challenging is the tour?

• During our week, we will cover approximately 150 nautical miles.
• During the day, we are usually active for about 4 to 6 hours (including swimming stops).
• No sailing experience is required for this tour.
• Being able to swim freely for at least 20 minutes is a must.

This tour is suitable for you if you meet the following criteria:

• You should be motivated to contribute to the daily sailing activities with the crew. This includes sailing itself, meal preparation, as well as cleaning up and washing dishes after meals.
• For our optional scooter tour in Ischia, it is preferable to have a driver’s license. However, we can also share a scooter, so not everyone needs to drive.

Awesome Crew:

• We sail in a flotilla of 1 to 4 yachts, each accommodating 8 to 10 participants.
• Sailors from all over the world (on-board language is English).
• Approximately 80% of the crew members are young professionals aged 27 to 33.
• Our specially trained JTC skippers from our Skipper Academy lead the tours.

Harmonious Vibes:

• 50/50 gender mix (up to 2 weeks before the trip starts).
• A balanced ratio of singles, couples, and small groups.
• If your group has more than 4 people, you can book your own yacht with a skipper.

Tour operation:

• All dates will be confirmed starting from the second booking.

Depending on the date, you can book one of the yacht standards listed below. All yacht standards come equipped with everything you need to sail safely with your crew and experience the vacation of a lifetime. All boats include a fully equipped kitchen, swim platform, audio system, and a dinghy with an outboard motor. The yachts and catamarans in the Classic Plus category tend to be newer, offer more space per person, and may include additional extras for greater comfort on board.

Easy payment:

• Deposit: 30% of the tour price upon booking.
• Final payment: 6 weeks before the start of the tour.
• Payment methods: Bank transfer, Credit card, ApplePay, AndroidPay, Klarna.

Reserve 5 days at no cost:

• Your reservation will be held for 5 days, just select it in the booking form.
• Reservations are possible until 6 weeks before the start of the tour.

Cooking or Dining Out:

• We usually prepare our meals on board.
• On some days, we will have the chance to dine out in the evenings.
• While cooking, we can form pairs so that everyone has a turn cooking or washing up. However, most people usually pitch in to help.

Advance Planning:

• In the crew chat, we can discuss meal and drink planning before the sailing trip.
• If you have any intolerances or allergies, please share this in the crew chat beforehand, so we can take them into account when shopping.

Shopping:

• On the first day of the trip, we will plan our shopping together using the JTC shopping list, which you can find in your crew area under "My Trips."
• As a crew, we will buy all the groceries for our week together.
• Each person should bring two large reusable bags to avoid using plastic bags on-site.
• If the supermarket is not within walking distance, we can arrange for the groceries to be taken to the harbor by taxi.
• During the trip, we will have the opportunity to buy small items on land as needed.

Arrival:

• Airport: Naples.
• Our Marina: Marina d'Arechi.
• Your route on Google Maps from the airport to the marina.

Check-In:

• Your crew will meet at 1 PM in a café, the exact location of which will be shared in the crew chat.
• If you arrive late, please inform your skipper.
• We will leave the starting harbor on Sunday morning.

Check-Out:

• At the end of the trip, we are scheduled to reach our destination harbor on Friday around 5 PM.
• We will spend our last night in the harbor and leave the boat on Saturday at 9 AM.

How to Book Your Flight:

• Ideally, book your flight to arrive in time for the first meeting at the café (or the day before, so you’re rested and can meet some of your fellow sailors).
• Your returning flight should preferably be scheduled for a time on Saturday after 12 noon, allowing you time to have a relaxed goodbye breakfast with your crew after the week.
• If that's not possible, you can book your returning flight for Saturday from 7 AM onwards.

What should I pack?

• Most crew members travel with only carry-on luggage.
• Your luggage should be soft and foldable, like a backpack. A hard suitcase takes up too much cabin space.
• Go green: bring only biodegradable hygiene products (shampoo, sunscreen, etc.).
• For sleeping under the stars, you should bring a sleeping bag.
• A towel, pillow, pillowcase, wool blanket, and a fitted sheet for the mattress are included on almost all trips.
• The crew fund does not need to be brought in cash. Most expenses can be paid on site by card or withdrawn in cash.

Mobile reception & Electricity

Mobile reception:

• Generally good coverage on most days of our route.
• Depending on the bay, weather, and distance, there may be no reception.
• No roaming fees (charges may apply depending on the provider).

Electricity:

• Smartphones and other small devices can be charged onboard via the 12V socket.
• In most harbors, other devices such as cameras, laptops, etc., can be charged via shore power (220V) during the docked time.
• A power bank is a must.

Currency, prices & tips

Currency:

• Payment is made in Euros.
• Payments with credit card are possible.
• EC cards are generally accepted.

Prices:

• Restaurant visit: about €30 to €60 per person.
• Examples: Cheap meal: €15, local beer: €5 cappuccino: €2.50.
• Grocery prices may vary depending on the location and restaurant.

Tips:

• Average tip: about 10%.

• The Amalfi Coast is known for its breathtaking cliffs, lemon groves, and historic villages.
• Limoncello, a sweet lemon liqueur, is one of the region's most famous products.
• Churches and cathedrals in towns like Amalfi and Positano showcase the rich history and architecture of the Middle Ages.

Safety in the country

• The Amalfi Coast is considered a safe region for solo travelers.
• Keep important documents and cash safe.
• A printed or digital copy of your documents is advisable.
• General warnings against pickpocketing apply.

Entry requirements & vaccination protection

For EU citizens:

• A valid ID card or passport.

For other nationalities:

• Please check the current entry requirements on the website of the Federal Foreign Office before booking.

Vaccination protection:

• No mandatory vaccinations are required for entry.
• Your standard vaccinations, according to the vaccination schedule of the Robert Koch Institute, should be up to date.
