After getting to know each other and traveling together by train, it’s time to lace up our hiking boots and set off towards Rotwandhaus. We’ll make our way across alpine meadows, panoramic trails, and through small stretches of forest, gradually climbing towards the summit and connecting as a crew, step by step.

After the climb, we’ve earned a well-deserved Kaiserschmarrn or a hearty snack. Full from the food but probably still not full of the mountain views, we slowly get ready for the descent.

This is a moderately challenging mountain hike. The route covers 16 km with 1,000 meters of elevation gain and 1,000 meters of descent. The actual walking time, excluding breaks, is around 5 - 6 hours. The summit trail requires a certain level of sure-footedness, and you should have an average level of fitness.

There’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes ;) Rain showers won’t stop us from hiking. If unsettled weather is forecast, rain gear, a rain cover for your backpack, and waterproof, ankle-high hiking boots are essential. If severe weather or heavy rain is forecast, we’ll make a short-notice decision on whether to come up with a Plan B or postpone the hike.
