Lake views, panoramic summit scenery, and a refreshing swim at the end — the Gindelalm loop at Lake Tegernsee has it all. We start in Gmund, take a leisurely walk along the lakeshore, and then make our way up to the Gindelalm mountain inn. A delicious lunch with panoramic views awaits us, and the descent takes us back to Tegernsee, where we can cool off in the lake after the hike.

In the crew chat, you can coordinate in advance with others to travel together by train or form a carpool. After getting to know each other, we’ll be ready for our day of hiking together as a crew. If you’re not starting directly from Munich, you can also join us at 9:15 AM in Gmund, Tegernsee, at the starting point. We’ll coordinate the travel arrangements and exact meeting point in the crew chat.

At the beginning, we’ll enjoy a relaxed start along the lakeshore. With barely any elevation gain and fantastic views of the lake, it’s the perfect way to ease into the hike and get to know each other as a crew without getting out of breath.

From Tegernsee, we begin our ascent along gentle trails and forest paths towards the Gindelalm mountain inn. Before stopping for a meal, we’ll enjoy panoramic views across the entire Lake Tegernsee. Wow!

Time for a proper Bavarian snack! Or maybe some cheese dumplings? Whichever you choose, the stunning views come included.

In the early afternoon, we’ll make our way back down into the valley at a more relaxed pace. It will take us around 1–2 hours to get back to Tegernsee.

In the early afternoon, we’ll be back in Tegernsee and head to one of the most beautiful spots by the lake to cool off. We’ll relax together on the sunbathing lawn, take a refreshing dip, and maybe play a game or two.

We’ll be back in Tegernsee from our hike between 2:00 and 3:00 PM. Depending on how you feel, you can make your way back to Munich whenever you like. Trains run every 30 minutes, giving everyone the flexibility to choose their own departure time.
Active, open-minded people your age, a relaxed atmosphere, and a vibe that quickly feels natural — whether you’re traveling solo or with friends.

The hike is considered easy to moderate. The route is 13.5 km long, with 600 m of elevation gain and 600 m of descent. The actual walking time, excluding breaks, is around 3.5 hours. You should have an average level of fitness and be reasonably sure-footed.
There’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing ;) Rain showers won’t stop us from hiking. If the weather forecast is changeable, it’s important to bring rain gear, a rain cover for your backpack, and waterproof, ankle-high hiking boots.
If severe storms or heavy rain are forecast, we’ll make a last-minute decision on whether to come up with a Plan B or postpone the hike.
