The comprehensive insurance of each yacht has its excess (or deductible), which is paid in the event of damage. Depending on the yacht, this amounts to between 1000 € and 8000 €. For all Sailing Tours (and most JTC group bookings) the size of the deposit is limited to 250 € per yacht via the so-called “limited excess“. So, if you are sailing as part of a Crew of 8 participants, the amount paid by each person would be approximately 30 €.
The exception is when you choose a yacht that does not come from our regular charter partner. In such a case, the excess will be blocked via your credit card as a deposit, similar to renting a car; alternatively you can book your own, separate insurance for the yacht - please tell us though when booking.
